US Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew will be in the Kingdom on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the US Embassy in Riyadh on Saturday, Lew will arrive in Jeddah on Monday and hold official talks the following day.
“Continuing (the government’s) engagement with international partners and allies in the Middle East and Europe, the treasury secretary will meet senior government officials and business leaders for discussions on the state of the global economy, as well as regional economic issues,” the statement said.
Lew’s meetings will also focus on other issues of common interest, including continued cooperation in efforts to disrupt the financial and support networks of terrorist organizations.
Lew will address a joint press conference with Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf at the Hilton in Jeddah.
The secretary will also take part in a discussion with the members of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
The Saudi-US trade relationship has grown considerably over the past few years with two-way trade reaching almost $74 billion last year. From the Saudi perspective, exports to the United States have more than doubled during the same period.
