Jeddah Corniche is ready to receive visitors who like to spend their summer holidays on Jeddah beaches, according to Mohammad Al-Baqmi, official spokesman for Jeddah Municipality.
He told Arab News that the municipality has deployed more than 200 workers to keep the Corniche clean round the clock during the summer holidays. The municipality has also provided the Corniche with 100 extra garbage containers of various sizes, especially in picnic areas.
He said that children’s play areas have trampoline and swings. He warned all visitors, especially young people from tampering with the Corniche property, pointing out that the municipality will employ more than 50 undercover supervisors who will work around the clock to look out for acts of vandalism or tampering with public property.
In a related development, Al-Baqmi said that Jeddah Municipality is continuing with its work on Dhahban Marine Park project, which was launched some months ago. The park is expected to be ready at the end of this year. It is estimated to cost more than SR3 million. He said the project is one of the most important entertainment projects implemented by Jeddah Municipality and aims to provide Jeddah visitors and residents with a large marine park. It will include all facilities and services such as restaurants, water coolers, play areas, sports areas, seating areas and green fields, in addition to fishing areas.
He added that Dhahban Marine Park is located on the open sea in an area of 110,000 sq. meters, and is just 40 km from central Jeddah. The park has a football field of 1,500 sq. meters, and 45,000 meters of green areas. It has 600 trees, 4,500 saplings, 40 Nerjeel palm trees, 220 local palm trees and 250 cacti. The municipality will provide the park with 63 children’s and sports games, canopies with a space of 280 sq. meters; canopies for children’s play areas, concrete canopies in addition to 16 wooden canopies and 391 light poles.
