The Bangladesh International School (BISJ-English Section) hosted a farewell ceremony on Friday to honor the 2014 batch of students who sat for the Advanced Level (A Level) exams in May/June this year. The exams are affiliated to the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) board.
A total of 53 students were given a grand farewell on the occasion at the school’s premises on Friday.
The function was attended by the members of the school governing board including Kazi Neamul Bashir, Chairman, Jalal Uddin, Golam Sarowar and Amir Mohammed. Reza-E-Rabbi, First Secretary and Consul Labor of the Consulate General of Bangladesh, Jeddah graced the occasion as the distinguished chief guest of the evening.
The event marked a significant turning point in the lives of the graduates as they step onto the threshold of a new beginning in their academic careers in institutes of higher education around the world.
The chief guest urged the students to be responsible members of society and emerge as role models for students following in their footsteps. Kazi Bashir hoped that the graduates would focus on issues which would enhance the country’s image internationally while Jalal Uddin paid tributes to the students’ parents for being such excellent support systems in their children’s lives. He also urged the students to reciprocate their parents’ efforts in keeping them motivated in their studies to achieve further goals.
Amir Mohammed, Head of Education at the BISJ expressed his pride in presenting the graduates. He said that he believed in their potential and their ability to bring glory to the school and their country.
Golam Sarowar, Head of Finance pointed out: “We must also not forget that the success of the students is a direct reflection of the success of their teachers, educational experts and their parents who with over 20 years of experience have worked hard to bring about this graduation day.” He also expressed his hopes that the school would grow from strength to strength adding that the students should use their skills and experience in higher education to stay abreast of development in their chosen fields.
Rohan Nazrul Islam and Ameera Mahfuza Alam, two of the graduates delivered outstanding speeches where they expressed their gratitude to all who had participated in their educational progress.
Mohammed Abdul Kaium, acting Principal of the school advised the students to develop their careers incorporating worldly knowledge with Islamic teachings. He reiterated the importance of self discipline in his speech stressing that it was the secret to becoming a noble human being.
The occasion ended with a gala dinner for all the attendees.
